“We have mountains, craft beer, forests, waterfalls, strong coffee and the Pacific Ocean”.
– Leah Flores about why the Pacific Northwest is the best place ever
Adventure is Calling!
“Adventure Island” by Leah Flores
The Portland-based creative Leah Flores has always considered herself to be an artist. At the same time, she’s always been completely aware of the ongoing stigma against the “species”. The age-old watchword is that artist is a completely fabricated profession, therefore, Leah earned her BA in Psychology & Humanities and went on to help kids who were abuse victims with serious mental disabilities. She loved the work and loved the kids even more, but the only time she could devote herself to her true passion, namely, working on designs, turned out to be the wee hours of the morning.
“Curious Adventures” by Leah Flores
The path to the Glory began with Leah discovering a website which provided an opportunity to upload designs for selling purposes. After a few silent weeks, Leah managed to sell her first phone case, a fact that initiated a cross-apartment dancing frenzy. One by one, she managed to sell even more, until Urban Outfitters called her to license her work, thus, fulfilling her dream of becoming a proud and legitimate working artist!
“Aim of Life” by Leah Flores
What’s great about this cool spirit from the Pacific Northwest? Her artworks are instantly recognizable because of the following two qualities: they’re inspiring and they make you think whether you’re following the depicted instruction. Combining superb photos of landscapes from all over our ever-exciting world and a creative use of different fonts (which, in the case of Leah, are a self-contained artistic value itself), she creates rousing art prints that easily reach the strings they’re aimed for. And they look unbelievably cool, to speak quite frankly. The influence of the Pacific Northwest scenery is apparent and works for a great, almost dream-like effect. Make sure to check out what’s good!
“Education” by Leah Flores
Her design/illustration/typography contribution to Urban Outfitters, Oh DEER and some other, more than 40 retailers she has a partnership with, has provided people around the globe with some of the most tasteful, coolest and colorful additions to clothing, wall art decor, and other lifestyle accessories. Once again a thought-out simplicity that has the maximal impact!
